In vitro activities of streptomycin and 11 oral antimicrobial agents against clinical isolates of Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis.

چکیده
We tested in vitro the activities of streptomycin and tetracycline--antibiotics that have long been used to treat rhinoscleroma--as well as several newer oral agents by using 23 isolates of the causative organism Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis. All isolates were inhibited by clinically achievable concentrations of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, amoxicillin-clavulanate, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, cephalexin, cefuroxime, and cefpodoxime.

In Vitro activities of isepamicin, other aminoglycosides, and capreomycin against clinical isolates of rapidly growing mycobacteria in Taiwan.
The in vitro activities of isepamicin against 117 Mycobacteria abscessus, 48 Mycobacterium fortuitum, and 20 Mycobacterium chelonae isolates were evaluated by a microdilution test. Isepamicin MIC(90)s were < or =16 microg/ml for the three species. Isepamicin was as active as amikacin and kanamycin and more active than tobramycin, capreomycin, gentamicin, and streptomycin.

Rheum ribes is among the Polygonaceae family which is endemic in Iran and a few neighboring countries. In this investigation, antibacterial effects of root, stalk and leaves extracts of Rheum ribes on a few common clinical isolates of gram negative pathogens were studied, using the cup plate and paper disc methods. Gram negative microorganisms studied were Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia...

ABSTRACT Background and Objectives: The resistance of gram-negative bacteria to antibiotics has become a serious problem, which imposes a significant increase in treatment costs. Klebsiella pneumoniae is an important nosocomial pathogen from the Enterobacteriaceae family. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency and pattern of antibiotic resistance in K. pneumoniae strains isolat...
